Russia Has Increased the Strength of Titanium Aluminum Alloy By 27 Times

Recently, it has been reported that the Russian National Research University of Technology and its colleagues at the University of Lyon in France, who have increased the strength of titanium and stainless steel products by 6 times, and the tensile strength of titanium aluminum alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) has increased by 27 times.

Researchers believe that they are the first in the world to combine two metal processing technologies that are considered incompatible with each other, thereby greatly improving material properties.

The production of high-load products requires improved metal properties: increased the density, the strength, the ductility and corrosion resistance. At present, the hot isostatic pressing (GIP) method is widely used in related processing. However, the hot isostatic pressing method did not bring ideal results when the popular cold air dynamic sputtering technology was used to obtain materials.

This technology is currently becoming one of the key technologies in aviation and automobile manufacturing, electrical engineering and medicine, because it provides the possibility to "cultivate" unique products with target structures.

Russian's researchers are the first to find metal processing parameters that combine these two methods, thereby greatly increasing the beneficial properties of the materials obtained.

It is reported that the research team plans to develop new materials for the medical industry based on the results obtained.
